About Us
Clare Swanger knew for a long time that she should work professionally with dogs. Her dog Lindsey provided the catalyst. He was wonderful in every way -- except Wow did he pull on the leash!
Searching for a gentle, effective approach that supported Lindsey and their bond led Clare to the Tellington TTouch® Method of Training. She completed the two-year certification program and became a Senior Practitioner in 2015. Clare continues her professional development in leading, force-free approached to animal welfare, behavior and training.
Clare is committed to enhancing dogs' lives and facilitating harmonious guardian/dog relationships. She respects each animal as an individual. Her wholistic approach employs a suite of gentle, effective techniques. People and dogs receive equal respect and understanding.
Clare works in person and virtually with private clients and teaches classes and workshops. She also travels-to-train. In Missouri and Idaho she taught staff and volunteers at animal shelters and was hired to work with special needs dogs. Clare is available to consult, coach and teach at shelters/rescues, professional dog associations and training programs, private groups and veterinary hospitals,
On two occasions Clare had the honor of presenting and teaching in-person and virtually for annual national conferences of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT).
Clare is a member of the Pet Professional Guild, and Tellington TTouch® Guild. She is also a member by invitation of the International Women’s Forum, an organization with 7,000+ members in 33 nations that builds better leadership across careers, continents and cultures. Previously, Clare worked in strategy consulting, professional development and land conservation. She was an author and project manager for The Promise of Diversity, Eds., Elsie Cross et al. Clare holds degrees from Yale and Stanford. She is based in Ketchum, Idaho.
